Digital X-Ray
If your doctor has requested a digital X-ray, check which part of your body will be examined before you book. The test creates images of selected structures, such as bones, joints or the chest, using a controlled amount of radiation. It can help your doctor look for an injury or investigate symptoms in that area. Bring the referral so the imaging team knows which views your doctor needs.
During the examination, the technician positions the area being checked and may ask you to hold still while each image is taken. Some examinations require more than one position so the same area can be seen from different angles. You may be asked to remove jewellery or clothing with metal near the area being examined. Tell the technician if moving into a position is painful or if you may be pregnant, so they can discuss the next step.
